Louisiana contains lakes, ponds and rivers that offer variety of freshwater fishing species. Primary fishing species are bass, crappie, catfish, bluegills and stripers which are found in freshwater impoundments throughout the state. Louisiana also offers saltwater fishing opportunities. Salt water species include red snapper, cobia (lemon fish), tuna, amberjack and grouper.
